An obese child  learns some hard lessons. In a God-fearing family for example, there are lessons from the Bible on self-control that easily can neutralize the eating struggle of many parents and their overweight children. Often the struggle results from our efforts as human beings to live in harmony with our free will.

Free will can be tested compellingly by the vast array of food choices available to us at work, school, home and recreation. Recognizing that we will be tempted can help us develop a healthy plan of action for self-control.

Food cravings are often noted by my clients. Usually, these cravings are the result of unintentionally eating foods that promote cravings. And then there are food and beverage cravings we have when feeling anxious, stressed, bored or depressed. When these cravings hit, go for a 10 minute walk around the office or outside, do 10 jumping jacks in the restroom or outside in the fresh air.  Drinking a large glass of water can help, too. Do something to distract yourself from the craving. In a few minutes the craving will pass and you are in harmony with your spirit again.

I teach my diet coaching  clients how to incorporate these techniques and numerous others into a healthy lifestyle for themselves and their families while concentrating on specific transcultural dietary needs. Many have changed the course of their health and that of an obese child. You can too, afterall.
